On April 30, 2023, the NOPD arrested four teenaged juvenile males suspected of perpetrating as many as four incidents ranging from attempted simple robbery and attempted armed robbery to armed carjacking, all occurring on April 30 in the Third District.

The NOPD is investigating a fatality that left a 63-year-old man dead.  The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of family members.   

UPDATE: Wanted suspect Gerard Zachary Turner surrendered this morning (May 1, 2023) to NOPD Violent Offender Warrant Squad officers and the U.S. Marshals. He was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for aggravated battery (two counts), felon in possession of a firearm and for discharge of a firearm during a violent crime.

The NOPD has arrested three juvenile suspects in the ongoing investigation of an armed robbery and two attempted armed robbery incidents that occurred on April 19, 2023.

On April 14, 2023, the NOPD Violent Offender Squad (VOWS) – with the assistance of the U.S. Marshals – arrested a 17-year-old juvenile male from Jefferson Parish in connection with a series of sexual assault incidents in the Fourth District.
