In an effort to better serve our community, the NOPD encourages continuing education and training for its ranks, including its senior leadership. As part of that training, Deputy Chief Paul Noel recently attended and graduated from the Major Cities Chiefs Association’s (MCCA) fourth Police Executive Leadership Institute (PELI).

The NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Kirk Alexander (DOB: 2/12/1983) today (April 7) after he was involved in a hit and run at the intersection of Chartres and Conti Street. 

NOPD's Seventh District officers arrested Jameel Saleem (DOB: 3/7/1980) for felon in possession of firearms and narcotic violations yesterday (April 5) after he tried to flee the scene of a traffic stop.

The NOPD has arrested Robert Blair (DOB: 10-23-1965) in connection with an aggravated arson that occurred on April 4, 2017 in the 2400 block of St. Andrew Street.

The New Orleans Police Department’s Mounted Unit is one of the department’s most iconic divisions.  Visible in the historic French Quarter and at such high profile events as Mardi Gras, Super Bowls and many of the city’s numerous music festivals, the horses are an integral part of the NOPD and they always seem to draw a crowd.
