NOPD Arrests Suspect in Aggravated Arson on St. Andrew Street

The NOPD has arrested Robert Blair (DOB: 10-23-1965) in connection with an aggravated arson that occurred on April 4, 2017 in the 2400 block of St. Andrew Street.

At about 7:38 p.m., New Orleans Fire Department personnel responded to the scene of a fire at an apartment building in the area. NOFD investigators located evidence that household items and an oven inside one of the apartments had been used to intentionally cause the fire.

NOPD Sixth District officers apprehended Blair shortly after arriving on the scene, when Blair had allegedly returned to the area in an attempt to check on the scene. Officers also located the resident of the apartment where the fire was found to have started, learning through investigation that Blair had reportedly committed a domestic abuse battery and violated a protective order the victim had obtained against Blair.

Blair was arrested and booked into Central Lockup on a charge of aggravated arson.

Anyone with any information on this incident is asked to contact Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
