Suspect Arrested for Hit and Run on Chartres and Conti Streets

The NOPD Eighth District officers arrested Kirk Alexander (DOB: 2/12/1983) today (April 7) after he was involved in a hit and run at the intersection of Chartres and Conti Street. 

The incident happened at around 11:00 a.m. A pedestrian was walking across the street at the intersection when Alexander struck the victim while driving 2013 brown Nissan Altima. While on scene, witnesses attempted to stop Alexander who fled the scene down Chartres Street toward St. Louis Street.  NOPD officers responded to the scene immediately providing the NOPD dispatcher with a full description of the perpetrator and his vehicle.  Witnesses continued to follow the perpetrator onto Dauphine and St. Louis Streets where Louisiana State Police along with NOPD detectives apprehended the subject without incident. The victim received minor injuries from the impact. 

Alexander was arrested and charged under the following charges:

14:100 Relative to Hit and Run

14:99  Relative to Reckless Operation of a Motor Vehicle

32:52  No Driver’s License.
