Seventh District Officers Arrest Suspect, Confiscate Guns and Drugs

NOPD's Seventh District officers arrested Jameel Saleem (DOB: 3/7/1980) for felon in possession of firearms and narcotic violations yesterday (April 5) after he tried to flee the scene of a traffic stop.

 At about 9:49 a.m., Seventh District officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle at the intersection of Tulip Street and Prentiss Avenue. Once the driver of the the vehicle pulled over,  two occupants exited the vehicle and fled on foot. Officers then gave chase.  Through the course of the investigation, officers eventually located the driver of the vehicle, Saleem, at a residence in the 4900 block of Tulip Street. After applying for a search warrant, the subject exited the residence and surrendered to police without further incident.

During the search, officers also located two firearms, ammunition, magazines , illegal narcotics and drug paraphernalia. The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jameel Saleem (DOB: 3/7/1980) and was arrested and charged with the following:

14:95.1- Relative to possession of a firearm by convicted felon

40:966 - Relative to possession of a schedule I controlled dangerous substance

40:969- Relative to possession of a schedule IV controlled dangerous substance

40:1023- Relative to possession of drug paraphernalia.

 

He was also arrested for having other outstanding warrants from other jurisdictions.
