"As we remain committed to reducing fatalities and all vehicle crashes, we are encouraged to see that the public is paying attention and being more mindful behind the wheel," says Captain Anthony Micheu, Commander of NOPD's Traffic Division. "However, the majority of fatal accidents in New Orleans this year, involve motor vehicles and pedestrians. We ask that drivers be especially vigilant and watch out for pedestrians. And pedestrians, we ask that you cross streets in well-lit areas only and be sure the roadway is clear before crossing- even if you have the right-of-way," adds Micheu.
If you see a junked or abandoned vehicle in your neighborhood- you are encouraged to call the city's 3-1-1 line for assistance.
As always, NOPD asks that drivers remain vigilant behind the wheel, obey all traffic laws and buckle up.
