The NOPD is seeking assistance from the public to aid in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 4, 2025, in the 1400 block of Elysian Fields Avenue.
At about 11:10 a.m. on September 4, NOPD Fifth District officers responded to the location on a call of an unclassified death. In speaking with the reporting person, officers learned that the reporting person had arrived to conduct a wellness check on the adult male victim. Upon arriving, the reporting person saw the victim unresponsive lying on the floor of the residence. The reporting person called police for assistance. EMS also arrived on scene and declared the victim to be deceased.
Upon subsequent completion of autopsy by the Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office on September 5, the victim was found to have sustained a gunshot wound and preliminary cause of death was determined to be from gunshot-related injuries. Upon this determination, the signal for the incident was changed to a homicide.
The case remains under investigation by the NOPD Homicide Section. No further details are currently available.
