NOPD Arrests Suspect in Homicide Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Darryl Loving (black male, DOB: 03-15-1967) in its investigation of a homicide that occurred on September 18, 2025, in the 9000 block of Chef Menteur Highway.

At about 5:03 a.m. on September 18, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a suspicious person at the location and subsequent welfare check. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male subject unresponsive inside of a residence. The victim was found to have sustained various injuries, including a reported cut wound, and was subsequently declared deceased on scene. The incident was then reclassified as a homicide.

During investigation, officers located and detained a suspect in the immediate area of the incident. The subject, later identified as Loving, was found to have sustained injuries and was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

As the investigation progressed, detectives determined Loving to be the perpetrator in this incident and obtained an arrest warrant for Loving on one count of second-degree murder. Upon release of medical care on September 20, Loving was arrested and booked accordingly into the Orleans Justice Center.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Anyone with additional information that can assist in this investigation is urged to contact NOPD Homicide Section detectives at 504-658-5300.
