NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fourth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening in the 2200 block of Westbend Parkway that left one person dead.

At about 6:10 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a male subject lying in a grassy area and having sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to a local hospital, where he was declared deceased.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
