The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (September 5, 2022) at the intersection of General Meyer and Behrman avenues that left one person dead.

At about 9:09 p.m., NOPD received notification of a female gunshot wound victim arriving via private conveyance to a local hospital, where the victim was later pronounced deceased. The incident was initially believed to have occurred in the Fourth District, but an exact location was unknown at the time. Through further investigation, NOPD Homicide Unit detectives determined the incident occurred at the intersection of General Meyer and Behrman avenues.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
