NOPD Investigates Double Homicide in Sixth District

NOPD Investigates Double Homicide in Sixth District

Members of the New Orleans Police Department are investigating a double shooting that left an unknown female dead and an unknown male dead. The names of the victims are being withheld pending notification of family members. The offense occurred shortly before 7:15 p.m., in the 2200 block of Dumaine Street.

According to investigators, Sixth District officers responded to a call for a wellness check requested by neighbors in the area. Upon their arrival, officers located an unknown woman and a man who sustained an undetermined amount of gunshot wounds to their bodies. Both victims were declared deceased at the scene by Emergency Medical Technicians.

Detectives are in the process of gathering information to identify the person(s) responsible for this offense and a motive.
