NOPD Investigating a Deadly Shooting in the Sixth District

NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD is investigating a deadly shooting that occurred today (September 26, 2021) in the 2300 block of Josephine Street. 

At around 5:02 p.m., the “Young Men Olympian” Social Aid and Pleasure Club Annual Parade was ending when officers on detail heard and responded to shots fired at the location.  Upon arrival, officers found a 38-year-old man suffering with multiple gunshot wounds.  He was pronounced dead on the scene.  Another victim, a 67-year-old woman, was also found suffering with a gunshot wound to the face.  She was transported to the hospital and is currently in critical condition. 

Investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. 

No additional details are available at this time.  The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the homicide victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
