NOPD Announces Violent Crime Arrests, Clearances Between September 12-18

Listed below are arrests or clearances by warrant obtained between September 12-18, 2021 in violent crime investigations by the NOPD:

Shootings

  • On September 13, 2021, NOPD Third District officers arrested Opal Simpson (no picture available, black female, DOB: 05-15-1979) for aggravated battery by shooting domestic abuse aggravated assault, and illegal use of weapons. The incident occurred in the 5700 block of Wickfield Drive on September 13.

Armed Robbery

  • On September 16, NOPD First District detectives arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for armed robbery and obtained an arrest warrant for another 14-year-old juvenile male for armed robbery. The incident occurred in the 3900 block of Orleans Avenue on September 11.
  • On September 16, NOPD Second District detectives arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for armed robbery and obtained an arrest warrant for another 14-year-old juvenile male for armed robbery. The incident occurred in the 4700 block of Baronne Street on September 11.
  • On September 16, NOPD Second District detectives arrested a 14-year-old juvenile male (not pictured) for armed robbery and obtained an arrest warrant for another 14-year-old juvenile male for armed robbery. The incident occurred in the 2200 block of Valence Street on September 12.
  • On September 14, NOPD Sixth District detectives arrested Tyrese M. Harris Sr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 03-09-2003) for armed robbery. The incident occurred in the 600 block of Washington Avenue on August 19.
