Suspect Quickly Arrested in Second District Armed Robbery

The NOPD quickly arrested Tyron Lewis (pictured, DOB: 04-23-1983) in the investigation of an armed robbery that occurred on September 6, 2020 in the 2600 block of Eagle Street.

At approximately 4:41 a.m., the victim was reportedly exiting his vehicle when he was approached by an unknown male subject, later positively identified as Lewis. The suspect then allegedly retrieved a firearm from his waistband, pointed it at the victim and demanded the victim’s money and cell phone. The victim complied. During the robbery, the victim was reportedly able to disarm the suspect, which led to a physical altercation. During the altercation, the suspect reportedly struck the victim with a large piece of wood.

Citizens who reportedly observed the altercation called police. Second District officers and detectives immediately responded to the scene and, upon investigation, positively identified Lewis as the perpetrator and arrested him on scene. Lewis was booked into the Orleans Parish Sheriff’s Office for armed robbery with a gun and aggravated battery. The firearm believed to have been used in the incident was also recovered during the investigation.
