NOPD Makes Quick Apprehension in Sixth District Homicide

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the Sixth District.

Around 10:25 a.m., Sixth District officers were on patrol near the intersection of Clio Street and Reverend John Raphael, Jr. Way when a single gunshot was heard.

Officer's discovered an adult male victim lying in the street in the 1200 block of Rev. John Raphael, Jr. Way. They also observed an individual fleeing the scene on foot.

A foot chase ensued and an adult male subject was apprehended in the 1400 block of Magnolia Street.

A weapon was recovered and the subject was taken into custody.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will determine official cause of death and release the victims’ names upon completion of autopsy and notification of families.

Homicide Detective Bruce Brueggeman is leading the ongoing investigation.
