NOPD Investigating Traffic Fatality in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred in the evening hours on September 2, 2020 at the intersection of Paris Avenue and Burbank Drive.

At about 11:29 p.m. NOPD Third District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered two victims - an adult male and an adult female - lying in the roadway with injuries. The female victim was declared deceased at the scene, while the male victim was transported to a local hospital via EMS for treatment.

Upon investigation, detectives determined that the two victims were operating motorcycles heading southbound on Paris Avenue when, for undetermined reasons, the two motorcycles collided near the intersection of Paris Avenue and Burbank Drive. Both victims were ejected from their vehicles in the crash.

The incident remains under active investigation. No additional information is available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner will officially identify the decedent in this incident upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Traffic Fatality Investigator Edgar Edwards is in charge of the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6205 with any additional information that can aid detectives.
