NOPD Investigating Homicide in Third District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred in the late hours on September 20, 2019 in the intersection of City Park Avenue and Canal Boulevard that left one person dead and five people wounded.

At about 10:29 p.m., NOPD Third District officers responded to call of an aggravated battery by shooting the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered six victims on scene, all having sustained apparent gunshot wounds. One of the victims was pronounced dead at the scene, while the five surviving victims were transported via EMS to a local hospital for treatment.

Of the six total victims suffering gunshot wounds, five were found to be juvenile males ranging in age from 15 to 17, including the deceased victim, while the remaining victim was identified as an adult male.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death for the decedent.
