Suspect Sought in Burglary, Theft by Fraud Incidents in Sixth District

The NOPD is seeking to locate and identify a suspect believed to be responsible for residential burglary and theft by fraud incidents reported in the 1800 block of Euterpe Street on September 3, 2018.

Officers learned that the victim and her husband left their residence at about 2:50 p.m. that day. When she returned, the victim told police, she noticed the back door of the residence to be open and the back yard gate had been broken open. The victim said that a red tote back was found to be missing that contained the victim’s wallet and credit and debit cards. The victim said that she received notification of a denied transaction on one of her cards about two hours after the incident at a business on St. Charles Avenue.

A review of surveillance video at the business showed an unknown male subject unsuccessfully attempting to use a card to pay for an item at the time of the reported transaction. The subject then left the store and fled the scene on a bicycle.

When located, the subject will be arrested for simple burglary of a residence and theft by fraud.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Sixth District detectives at 504-658-6060 or call anonymously to Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
