NOPD Seeking Suspect in Shooting on Alcee Fortier Boulevard

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Jose Garcia (DOB: 03-20-1977) in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in the 4800 block of Alcee Fortier Boulevard on September 2, 2018.

At about 3:00 p.m., the wanted subject reportedly entered the victim’s place of business and began yelling at a patron of the business. Upon the victim requesting the wanted subject leave, he allegedly removed a firearm from his waistband and proceeded to discharge the weapon several times into the floor of the business. Two victims were struck by the gunfire and treated at an area hospital.

When located, Garcia will be arrested for two counts of aggravated second degree battery and one count each of illegal discharge of a weapon and possession of a firearm on the premises of an alcoholic beverage outlet.

Garcia is described as a Hispanic male standing about 5’6” and weighing about 240 pounds, last seen driving a gold 1997 Toyota 4Runner.
