NOPD Investigating Homicide on Luna Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred in the early hours today (September 27, 2018) in the 3400 block of Luna Street.

At about 2:03 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to an initial call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the block. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive black female lying in the grass suffering from apparent multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
