NOPD Arrests Two in Armed Robbery on Burgundy Street

The NOPD has arrested Duwan Seaton (pictured at left, DOB: 02-25-1994) and Shania White (pictured at right, DOB: 08-07-1998) in connection with an armed robbery that occurred on September 20, 2018 in the 4900 block of Burgundy Street.

At about 6:22 a.m., Fifth District detectives learned of an armed robbery with a firearm incident which occurred in the 4900 block of Burgundy Street. During this incident, the victim was reportedly seated on the porch of a residence in the block talking Seaton when she was approached from the rear by White. Once White was directly behind the victim, White then allegedly struck the victim in the head with a firearm. White then reportedly snatched the victim’s purse from her grasp and then pointed the firearm in the victim’s face, while telling the victim to leave the area. The victim then observed both subjects flee the area together after the robbery.

Within minutes, Fifth District detectives and officers arrived in the area and conducted a canvass of the area, based on the description given by the victim. Two subjects matching the description given by the victim were located and detained in the 1200 block of Tennessee Street. The two subjects were positively identified as Seaton and White. Both were arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for armed robbery. White was also arrested for felon in possession of a firearm, while Seaton was arrested for violation of parole.
