NOPD Seeking Suspect in Attempted Homicide on Farwood Drive

The NOPD has obtained an arrest warrant for Jarvar White (DOB: 04-04-1983) in connection with an attempted homicide that occurred on September 27, 2017 in the 6800 block of Farwood Drive.

At about 10:02 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to a call of domestic abuse in the area. In speaking to the victim, officers learned that she and her boyfriend of five years, identified as White, had pulled up at their residence in the 6800 block of Farwood Drive at about 2 p.m. in their black Volkswagen Passat. At that time, the victim said, White aggressively placed the vehicle in park while sitting in the front passenger seat and pulled the keys from the ignition. The two argued briefly before White allegedly grabbed the victim and pulled her to the passenger seat, where he allegedly struck her with the car keys and choked her with his arm while threatening to kill her. The victim told police that she began to fight back, but that White rebuked her. The victim then exited the vehicle and entered the residence, while White reportedly fled the scene in the vehicle. The victim added that White had been consuming alcohol since earlier in the morning and that he has previously shown aggressive and violent behavior toward her while drinking.

At an undetermined time later in the day, the victim said, White returned with the couple’s three shared children – ages 9, 5 and 2 – and showed signs of heavy intoxication. The victim said she informed White that she was leaving him, at which time White allegedly threatened to harm her physically. Fearing for her safety, the victim said, she struck White in the face with a closed fist and fled the scene. As the victim fled on foot, she said, she saw the couple’s vehicle driven by White with the couple’s three children inside, drive onto the block. The victim said that White then allegedly throttled the vehicle and swerved the vehicle toward her. Believing that he was attempting to strike her, the victim said she then hid behind a concrete light post. White then reportedly swerved the vehicle back into the center of the street and fled southbound on Glengarry Road.

The couple’s children were later found safe back at the residence with a relative, but White remains at large.

White, who has a documented history of domestic violence, is wanted for attempted second degree murder, criminal damage to property, simple battery and aggravated assault in connection with this incident.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Jarvar White is asked to contact Seventh District detectives at 504-658-6070. Citizens with information that can help solve crimes are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free at 1-877-903-STOP.
