NOPD Investigating a Homicide on Tupelo Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred this evening (September, 19, 2017) in the 1400 block of Tupelo Street.

At about 7:31 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting in the area. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive male lying on the sidewalk suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

Further investigation revealed that the victim was a resident of the area, and detectives believe that the shooting possibly stemmed from an argument.

Investigation into the incident is ongoing. No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
