NOPD Investigates Homicide on Marais Street

NOPD Investigates Homicide on Marais Street

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that happened early this morning in the 2500 block of Marais Street.

At around 3 a.m., Fifth District officers responded to an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Once they arrived on scene, they observed an unknown male victim in the road suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead on scene by EMS.  

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
