Habitual Offender Caught Burglarizing Vehicles in Fourth District

The NOPD Fourth District arrested Eric Perry (DOB: 9/20/1978) today (Sept. 14) after he was caught pulling on door handles and in possession of purse taken from an unlocked vehicle.

At about 12:30 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of a suspicious person pulling on vehicle door handles at the intersection of Everglades and Yellow Stone Drive. Once officers arrived at the location, they observed Perry with a purse in his hands.  A concerned citizen approached officers and identified Perry as the perpetrator who was seen pulling on door handles in the area.

During the incident, Perry was found to be in possession of property that was taken from two vehicle burglaries reported on Olympic Court.

He was arrested and booked with (2) counts of simple burglary and illegal possession of stolen things. Through the course of the investigation, officers discovered Perry was also on probation for the same crime.

If you have any other information on the arrested subject, please contact any Fourth District (DIU) detective at 504-658-6040. Citizens with information that can help solve a crime are asked to call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 or toll-free 1-877-903-STOP.
