NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District, Suspect Identified

NOPD Investigating Homicide in Seventh District, Suspect Identified

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred this evening (October 16, 2024) in the 6200 block of Bridgehampton Drive and left an adult female victim deceased. 

Detectives have developed and positively identified Eric Christopher Gentris (black male, DOB: 01/02/1989) as a suspect in this investigation.

At about 7:15 p.m., NOPD Seventh District detectives responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unresponsive adult female having sustained at least one gunshot wound. EMS subsequently declared the victim to be deceased on scene.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
