NOPD Investigating Homicide in Fourth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred today (October 23, 2023) in the 3200 block of Rue Parc Fontaine and left a 3-year-old toddler dead.

At about 2:47 p.m., NOPD Fourth District officers responded to a call of a shot person at the location. Upon arrival, officers located a 3-year-old toddler female with a gunshot wound. The victim was declared deceased on scene.

A subject was detained at the scene for questioning. No arrests have been made as of this writing.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
