NOPD, LSP Arrest Suspect in Criminal Damage Incident

NEW ORLEANS – Today (October 27, 2023), the NOPD and Louisiana State Police arrested Maurice Riley (male, DOB: 05-28-1964) in the investigation of a criminal damage incident that occurred in the 6200 block of Pratt Drive on October 18, 2023.

At around 2:30 a.m. on October 18, the victim was reportedly inside their residence when they heard what they believed to be gunfire outside. Upon viewing surveillance video, a subject was seen reportedly firing gunshots into two vehicles in the victim's driveway. The suspect then reportedly fled and fired additional shots, some of which struck the victim's residence. No injuries were reported.

Through investigation and assistance from Louisiana State Police, detectives positively identified Riley as the perpetrator and an arrest warrant was obtained. Members of NOPD's Special Operations Division and Violent Crime Abatement Investigative Team, assisted by State Police, arrested Riley at about 3:30 p.m. today in the 700 block of Teche Street.

Riley was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on three counts of aggravated criminal damage to property, one count of illegal use of weapons and two counts of simple criminal damage to property.

Detectives are working to determine if additional charges are warranted for Riley, who is suspected to be responsible for similar incidents in recent days.

All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
