Off-Duty NOPD Officer Wounded in First District Armed Robbery, Shooting Incident

An off-duty NOPD officer was the victim of an armed robbery that occurred at around 10:35 p.m. on October 13, 2022, in the 300 block of North Rendon Street. 

Initial information shows that an armed subject approached the off-duty officer, pointed a gun at him and demanded his possessions. A struggle reportedly ensued. At that time, the officer suffered a single gunshot wound to the abdomen. The officer was transported to a local hospital by EMS, where he remains in stable condition. 

The officer is identified as Louis Blackmon, a four-year veteran who serves in the Fourth District.
