NOPD Promotes Seventh District Lieutenant to Captain

The NOPD has promoted Lieutenant Wayne DeLarge to the rank of Captain. He will assume command of the Third District

Prior to his promotion, DeLarge was assigned to the Seventh District where he served as second in command.

DeLarge also served as a Lieutenant in the Homicide Unit and the Fifth District.

From 2011 to 2018, DeLarge was assigned as a sergeant in the Homicide Unit.

Prior to his promotion to sergeant, he was assigned to the Homicide Unit as a detective.

From 2004 to 2011, he served as a patrol officer and a detective in the Sixth District.

He graduated from the NOPD Education and Training Academy in 2003.

He is a graduate of St. Augustine High School and Xavier University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Psychology.

He is a lifelong resident of New Orleans.

“I want to thank Captain DeLarge for accepting this responsibility and such a pivotal time for our department and his family for sharing him with us and this city,” NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson said. Throughout his career, Captain DeLarge has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to this NOPD and the citizens of this city.”
