The NOPD is investigating a fatal single-vehicle vehicle crash that occurred on October 1, 2022, on the Almonaster Avenue overpass of Jourdan Road South that left one person dead.
At about 10:26 p.m. on October 1, NOPD Seventh District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers located an adult male motorcyclist lying on the ground near Jourdan Road South. The victim was unresponsive and declared deceased on scene.
Through investigation, NOPD Traffic Fatality Unit investigators determined that the victim was operating his motorcycle heading east on the Almonaster Avenue overpass when, for unknown reasons, he lost control of the vehicle and struck a guard rail. Upon impact, the driver was thrown from the motorcycle and off the overpass, landing alongside Jourdan Road South.
