NOPD Arrests Suspect in Armed Carjacking Investigation

On October 8, 2022, a coordinated effort between two NOPD field districts and the department’s Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team (VCAIT) resulted in the arrest of Jeremy T. Adams (black male, DOB: 02-21-1987). Adams was arrested in the investigation of an armed carjacking incident that occurred earlier that day in the 1100 block of Ursulines Avenue.

At about 7:50 a.m., an armed carjacking occurred at the listed location. Through the course of follow-up investigation, NOPD First District and Eighth District detectives obtained information on the reported stolen vehicle, which was subsequently located by members of the department’s Violent Crime Abatement Investigation Team approximately one mile from the location of occurrence. Detectives stopped the vehicle at the intersection of Old Gentilly Road and Louisa Street, where officers apprehended the driver of the vehicle without incident. The driver of the vehicle was positively identified as Adams.

Adams was arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice center on one count each of armed carjacking and carrying of a firearm in a firearm-free zone (school).

Anyone with additional information on this incident is urged to contact NOPD First District detectives at 504-658-6010.
