NOPD Makes Quick Arrest in Eighth District Shooting Investigation

The NOPD has arrested Shawn A. Breaux Jr. (pictured, black male, DOB: 12-05-1991) in the ongoing investigation into an aggravated battery by shooting that occurred on October 8, 2021 in the 100 block of Carondelet Street that left three people injured.

Just before 9:00 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers were notified of the incident and quickly responded to the scene. Through investigation, officers determined that two male subjects had approached the location and allegedly began firing gunshots that struck three male victims. One victim was transported to a local hospital via EMS for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds. The other two victims arrived at local hospitals via private conveyance, one with a gunshot wound to the hip and the other with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Shortly after the incident, a subject was reportedly seen entering a vehicle in an attempt to elude officers. The subject, positively identified as Breaux, was apprehended a short time later. A second suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

Breaux was booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center for two counts of felon in possession of a firearm, one count of unlawful handling of a machine gun, one count of aggravated flight from an officer and one count of illegal possession of a stolen firearm.

Investigation into this incident remains open and active. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact NOPD Eighth District detectives at 504-658-6080 or to call anonymously to Crimestoppers of Greater New Orleans at 504-822-1111.
