NOPD Investigating Paris Avenue Homicide

NEW ORLEANS - The NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting that occurred today (October 23, 2021) in the 2800 block of Paris Avenue.

At around 5:06 a.m., Third District Officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at a home at the location. Upon arrival, officers found an adult male suffering with a gunshot wound outside of the home. The victim was pronounced dead by NOEMS, and the incident was reclassified to homicide by shooting at 5:15 a.m.

The initial investigation has determined that the victim in this incident is not a resident of the home and the incident is not domestic in nature.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

No additional details are available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
