NOPD Investigating Homicide in Sixth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred earlier today (October 6, 2021) in the 600 block of General Taylor Street that left one person dead and three injured.

At about 1:26 p.m., NOPD Sixth District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting at the location. Upon arrival and investigation, it was learned that four adult male victims had sustained gunshot wounds. The victims were transported via EMS to a local hospital. One of the victims was later pronounced deceased, at which time the incident was reclassified as a homicide.

Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive. No additional details are currently available.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will identify the decedent and official cause of death upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
