NOPD Investigates Homicide in Fifth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting that has claimed the life of one adult male and injured another Monday evening (Oct. 25) in the Fifth District.

At around 6:20 p.m., Fifth District officers were dispatched to the scene of an aggravated battery by shooting in the 1200 block of Franklin Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered two adult males suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. One victim was pronounced deceased on scene, and the second victim was transported to the hospital by EMS.

Investigators are in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim’s name upon completion of an autopsy and the notification of family.
