NOPD Arrests Suspects in Eighth District Shooting Investigation

On October 8, 2021, the NOPD arrested Jerry Rodriguez (pictured at top, black male, DOB:03-06-2002) and Olivia Turner (pictured at bottom, black female, DOB: 08-12-1999) in the investigation of a shooting that occurred on October 5, 2021 at the intersection of Commerce and Girod streets.

At about 11:30 p.m. on October 5, two adult victims – a male and a female – reportedly heard gunfire and realized they had been struck. The male victim had sustained gunshot wounds to the legs and arrived at a local hospital via private conveyance, while the female victim sustained a gunshot wound to the foot and arrived at a local hospital via EMS.

Through investigation, Eighth District detectives developed and positively identified both Rodriguez and Turner as suspects in this incident. The two were arrested and booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center. Rodriguez was booked on two counts of aggravated second-degree battery, while Turner was booked on two counts of principal to aggravated second-degree battery.
