Subject Wanted in Eighth District Homicide Arrested in Houma

A subject accused in the death of a 4-year-old juvenile was apprehended in Houma, La. today.

Around 1:30 p.m. aon Tuesday, October 27, 2020, The US Marshals along with the New Orleans Fugitive Task Force, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Department, and the Houma Police Department, located and apprehended Anfernee Steele (BM 06/19/1999) at an apartment in Houma, La.

Steele was wanted for second-degree murder and second-degree cruelty to a juvenile in connection with the death of a 4-year-old juvenile female that occurred October 3, 2020 in the 500 block of Canal Street.

“The arrest of Anfernee Steele once again demonstrates how well law enforcement agencies in southeast Louisiana work together, NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson said. “I want to thank all involved in this apprehension, especially the U.S. Marshals, who have been engaged in the search for Steele since the warrant was issued.

“We would also like to thank the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Department and the Houma Police Department for their assistance,” Ferguson said.
