There were four attempted carjackings and two carjackings in New Orleans last night.

The attempted carjackings occurred in the First, Third, Fifth and Seventh Districts. The two carjackings occurred in the Second and Third Districts.

Video depicting one of the incidents can be viewed here.

The string of incidents began at 4:15 p.m. in the Third District with an attempted carjacking in the 3700 block of Claremont Drive.

Third District investigators notified all districts to be on the lookout for this perpetrator’s vehicle, described as a dark blue sport utility vehicle occupied by two black males.

The subjects are then believed to have committed an armed carjacking at 4:51 p.m. in the 5000 block of Madrid Street also in the Third District. They then are believed to have committed two more attempted carjackings. One, at 5:11 p.m. in the Fifth District near the intersection of Burgundy and Piety Streets and another at 6:34 p.m. First District in the 3700 block of Orleans Avenue.

The subjects used the same method and fit the same description as the two subjects in the Third District.

The Districts were notified the description of the vehicle and a (BOLO) alert was issued for a blue Hyundai SUV with no license plate.

The attempted carjacking at 4:12 a.m. (Thursday) in the Seventh District near the intersection of Lake Forest and Crowder Boulevards and a carjacking in the Second District at 4:47 a.m. in the 4700 block of South Galvez. That incident was later reclassified as an armed robbery.

Both involved a dark colored sedan. It is not currently known if the same perpetrators were involved as a different vehicle was used.

The vehicle used in the Seventh District attempted carjacking is described a black Nissan Altima. The Third District carjacking involved a Honda HR-V.

“I want the citizens of New Orleans to know that citywide, our officers are working diligently to identify these perpetrators, get them off the streets, and bring them to justice,” NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson said.

The Districts are actively searching for these vehicles. Anyone with information on these incidents is asked to contact their District station or call Crimestoppers anonymously at 504-821-2222 and toll-free at 1-877-903-7867.
