The NOPD is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred Monday night (Oct. 19) in the 7900 block of Gannon Road.
At around 8:35 p.m., Seventh District officers responded to a complaint of a victim down at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered an adult male suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. The victim was transported to the hospital by EMS, where he expired.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible in this incident, as well as a motive. There are no further details available at this time.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine the official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
