Third District officers responded to a call of an aggravated battery by shooting around 1:35 a.m. in the 2900 block of Elysian Fields Avenue at the Waffle House restaurant.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a 34-year-old adult male suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim died at the scene.
