NOPD officers have removed two illegal weapons off the streets after they were confiscated from the above pictured subjects during two separate incidents in the Fourth District.

At or around 10:49 p.m. on September 23, 2018, Fourth District officers were patrolling in the 3500 block of Garden Oaks Drive when they observed several subjects sitting in front of a building in the area. As the officers approached the arrested subject Michael Young (DOB 09/06/1985), he was allegedly observed placing an unknown object into his pants. Upon conducting a search of Young’s outer garments, a black firearm reportedly fell from inside of his pants leg onto the ground. Young was also found in possession of narcotics.

Young was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where he was booked with illegal possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and illegal possession of a weapon while in possession of narcotics.

At or around 7:34 p.m. on September 27, 2018, Fourth District officers were patrolling near the intersection of Pace and Lawrence avenues when they observed the arrested subject George Collins (DOB: 10/14/1997), standing in a dark isolated area. Officers attempted to approach Collins, at which time they were engaged in a short foot pursuit with the subject. Upon detaining Collins, officers discovered that the subject was in possession of a concealed firearm.

Collins was transported to the Orleans Parish Justice Center, where he was booked accordingly.

Anyone with any additional information regarding the arrested subjects should notify Fourth District detectives at 504-658-6040.
