NOPD Investigating a Fatal Stabbing on Calliope Street

The NOPD is investigating a fatal stabbing that occurred today (October 21, 2018) near the intersection of Calliope Street and St. Charles Avenue.

At about 11:57 a.m., Sixth District officers responded to a call of a man down on the ground in the area of Calliope Street and St. Charles Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found the victim lying on the ground bleeding from the left side of the body. Further investigation revealed the victim was stabbed. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

No further information is available at this time. The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.
