NOPD Searches for Man in Seventh District Attempted Armed Robbery

The NOPD is searching for a suspect in an armed robbery that happened on Hayne Boulevard in the Seventh District.

 

Police are searching for Markques Simon (7/15/1997)  aka “Black Jesus” and “Black” in connection with an incident that occurred Monday, October 23, 2017 at 11:23 a.m.

 

Seventh District Officers responded to an armed robbery call in the 13000 block of Hayne Boulevard. The victim was with a neighborhood friend known only to him as, “black” behind the levee protection wall.

 

“Black” removed a firearm from his waistband and began shooting the firearm into the lake, he then turned towards the victim and pointed the firearm at his forehead and demanded his property.

 

The victim advised that he had nothing of value on his person.

 

“Black” instructed the victim not to leave until he counted to 100 and fled the scene on foot.

 

Through the course of the investigation, detectives were able to identify “Black” as Markques Simon (DOB 7/15/1997).

 

A warrant of arrest is on file with NCIC on a charge of attempted armed robbery with a firearm.
