NOPD Investigating Fatal Crash at Intersection of General Meyer Avenue and Hudson Place

The NOPD is investigating a fatal vehicle crash that occurred today (October 8, 2017) near the intersection of General Meyer Avenue and Hudson Place.

At about 6:30 a.m., Fourth District officers responded to a call of a vehicle crash with injury at the location. Upon arrival, officers discovered the unresponsive body of a female lying in the roadway on General Meyer Avenue, along with a Honda Civic with damage to the vehicle's front end and front windshield.

Upon investigation, detectives determined that the victim was walking westbound in the far right lane of General Meyer Avenue. At the same time, the vehicle was traveling in the same direction in the same lane and apparently struck the victim. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured in this incident. Investigation is ongoing. No information on possible charges is available at this time.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the victim's name, upon completion of autopsy and notification of family.

Traffic Fatality Investigator Collin Munster is in charge of the ongoing investigation and can be reached at 504-658-6205 with any information on this incident.
