The NOPD is investigating a traffic fatality involving a motocyclist in the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive on October 22, 2017.
At approximately 8:52 p.m., the Traffic Fatality Unit responded to a motorcycle crash in the area. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned a male motorcyclist was traveling eastbound in the 1000 block of Lakeshore Drive where the roadway curves when he eventually lost control of the motorcycle and veered onto oncoming traffic. He was then ejected from the motorcycle and struck the driver side of a silver Toyota Camry who was traveling westbound.
The motorcyclist was transported to the hospital by EMS where he was later pronounced dead.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will determine official cause of death and release the deceased victim's name, upon completion of autopsy.
