NOPD homicide detectives are investigating possible group or gang connections in a shooting that left three people dead and two others wounded Tuesday night (Oct. 4).
Talking to reporters today, NOPD Superintendent Michael Harrison said it appears two groups of people exchanged gunfire in the incident, which happened around 9:25 p.m. in the 3700 block of Ulloa Street. Detectives worked through the night collecting evidence and talking with witnesses who may have seen what happened.
"There are multiple casings and it's a very large scene," said Chief Harrison.
The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office has identified the three victims as Darome Hilton, 34, Glenquel Emerson, 20, and Bobbie Basquine. Two other males remain hospitalized with injuries.
"We are working day and night to make New Orleans safe, so we are hoping that our citizens will come forward with information to help us hold the perpetrators accountable and bring justice to these families."
Anyone with information on the investigation should contact the NOPD Homicide Division at 504-658-5300 or Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111.
