NOPD Identifies Suspect in Armed Robbery on General DeGaulle

The NOPD needs the public’s assistance in locating Prentiss Bovia (DOB: 6-9-1988). He is wanted for armed robbery with a firearm and second degree battery.

 

On October 5, 2016, an armed robbery occurred at the Shell gas station in the 3000 block of General DeGaulle. The suspect was observed entering the store, producing a firearm, and punching the cashier in the face. He then forced the victim to open the cash register, took the cash and fled the scene.

 

During the subsequent investigation, Bovia was developed as a suspect and later positively identified as the perpetrator. A photo of Bovia is included below.

Armed Robbery

In Louisiana, an armed robbery conviction requires the offender to be imprisoned at hard labor for 10 – 99 years, without benefit of parole, probation, or suspension of sentence. When a firearm is used in the commission of the crime, the offender will be imprisoned for an additional 5 years that will be served consecutively to the original sentence.
