NOPD Arrests Suspect in Shooting on Carondelet Street

The NOPD has arrested Henry Vicknair (DOB: 11-30-1988) in connection to a shooting that occurred on October 26, 2016.

A little after 2 p.m. yesterday (Oct. 26), Sixth District officers responded to a call of a shooting in the 1800 block of Carondelet Street. Upon arrival they found a male victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital with what were considered to be non-life threatening wounds.

The victim told officers that shortly before the shooting he and his cousins became involved in a physical altercation with Vicknair and several males. The victim said that during the fight Vicknair shot him as he tried to flee. Vicknair then fled the scene.

As detectives were gathering evidence and statements from witnesses, Vicknair came to the Sixth District station. He told officers that he was involved in a fight with the victim and several others when someone pulled out a firearm. Vicknair stated he gained control of the firearm and shot the victim twice in the back as he fled. He also turned in the weapon to detectives.

Detectives then obtained a warrant for Vicknair for one count of aggravated battery and booked him accordingly.

Vicknair's booking photo is included below.
