NOPD Arrests Juvenile Suspect in Vehicle Theft in Second District

Quick response by NOPD Second District officers today (Oct. 4) led to an arrest of a 15-year-old male juvenile suspected of stealing a car in the Sixth District.

At about 11 a.m., Second District officers received a call reporting a light green Toyota Corolla had been stolen from the 1200 block of Constantinople Street. Minutes after the call was dispatched, Second District officers on patrol observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen car and began pursuit. The vehicle crashed at the intersection of South Claiborne and Amelia Street and, after a brief foot chase, officers apprehended the driver on Clara Street.

The juvenile suspect was arrested and faces charges including theft of a vehicle, possession of a stolen vehicle, resisting arrest, flight from an officer and traffic violations.
